Record 350,000-Plus Visitors—Shanghai's CHINAPLAS 2026 Closes with 5,104 Exhibitors, 400,000 m²

CHINAPLAS 2026 (the 38th International Exhibition on Plastics and Rubber Industries), the international trade fair for the plastics and rubber industries, ran April 21–24, 2026, at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Hongqiao, Shanghai, closing on the 24th after a four-day run. The show set records on every major measure—400,000 square meters of exhibition space, 5,104 exhibitors, and 350,189 professional visitors—underscoring its scale.

Exhibitor and Visitor Counts Both Top the Previous Edition

Exhibitors numbered 5,104 from 45 countries and regions, up 10.57% from the 2025 Shenzhen edition. Visitors reached 350,189 from 188 countries and regions, a 24.53% increase over the same event.

The international mix also grew. Visitors from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas totaled 86,440, or 24.68% of all attendees. That figure rose 26.11% from the previous Shenzhen edition, outpacing the overall growth rate.

Machinery and Materials Fill 16 Exhibition Halls

The venue spanned 16 exhibition halls. On the machinery side, more than 3,800 sets of equipment ran in live operation, while over 1,900 raw-material suppliers exhibited on the materials side. More than 350 exhibitors presented technologies making their global or Asian debut.

The exhibitor lineup was broad. Alongside Global 500 and China 500 majors, more than 1,000 Chinese "Specialized and Niche" enterprises took part—companies certified by the Chinese government on combined indicators such as economic performance and degree of specialization. Of these, roughly 200 were national-level "Little Giant" companies that meet stricter criteria.

Deal-Making Stays Brisk Across the Four Days

Visitor traffic held up throughout the four days, and business discussions between exhibitors and visitors from around the world continued across the halls. According to the organizer and exhibitors, the show served as a venue for winning orders, negotiating partnerships, and building networks.

Next Edition Heads to Shenzhen in 2027

CHINAPLAS alternates between Shenzhen in odd years and Shanghai in even years. The next edition is scheduled for April 13–16, 2027, at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center (Bao'an).
