Eco-C CUBE is a high-strength structural block manufactured through a direct extrusion and molding process that bypasses the need for washing or separating hard-to-recycle plastic waste—including discarded fishing nets, buoys, agricultural films, and multilayer packaging. Outperforming conventional concrete while significantly contributing to CO2 reduction, it is gaining global recognition as a premier sustainable construction material. The product was awarded the Silver Prize in the Advanced Engineering Infrastructure Solutions category at the 2025 Edison Awards and was named a CES 2026 Innovation Awards Honoree, hosted by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA).
Eco-C CUBE was jointly developed by the Korea Low Impact Development Association, a non-profit organization under the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Korea, and WES-Tec Global.
Proprietary "Newcycling" Technology: Superior Strength Without Pre-treatment
The core technology behind Eco-C CUBE lies in WES-Tec Global’s proprietary “Newcycling” process. This technology enables the direct extrusion and molding of plastic waste collected from marine and terrestrial environments without pre-treatment. By manufacturing blocks at low temperatures to preserve the polymer structure, the process yields high-performance structural units with outstanding vibration resistance, tensile strength, and compressive strength. Notably, Eco-C CUBE demonstrates a compressive strength of 26.4 MPa and a tensile strength of 16.7 MPa, surpassing the performance of conventional concrete retaining walls and interlocking blocks.
By minimizing processing while enhancing material quality, Eco-C CUBE reduces weight, thereby lowering transportation and installation costs and significantly shortening construction periods. This approach delivers both economic value and environmental sustainability. The system incorporates AI-based structural analysis and simulation-driven design to verify stability, provide optimized construction solutions, and ensure high scalability across diverse applications.
Driving Environmental Sustainability and Global Infrastructure Resilience
Eco-C CUBE reduces CO2 emissions by approximately 2.99 kg per kilogram of product, a figure officially verified through a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) conducted by the SDX Foundation in Korea. Beyond lowering carbon footprints, the technology addresses critical environmental challenges by effectively utilizing plastic debris that is typically not recycled—diverting it from incineration, landfills, and leakage into ecosystems.
WES-Tec Global positions Eco-C CUBE as a sustainable alternative to conventional concrete for specialized civil engineering applications. The company expects this technology to play a critical role in mitigating infrastructure risks associated with plastic pollution and climate change. Moving forward, WES-Tec Global plans to expand the application of Eco-C CUBE to disaster-response infrastructure in coastal cities, flood-prone regions, and landslide-affected areas. The company is currently seeking global partners to scale and deploy these climate-conscious construction models worldwide.
